Women in Jazz
Women in Jazz is a weekly series in the month of March in Oak Park. It was so wonderful to be able to showcase my own work, Goofy Blues, Pessoa, Salty Waltz and to perform Kelly Brand’s Fall Spring, Yellow Blues, and Bitter Blew the Winds of March, as it doesn’t happen that often. So often when performing, especially in clubs and restaurants, we showcase jazz standards. The opportunity to be able to highlight our own work as women was something spec
ial. Thanks to the Linda Solitaire of True Muse productions and Open Door Theatre.
SHE- An all Female Jazz Band
Led by Bobbi Wilsyn, vocalist, Audrey Morrison trombone, Juli Wood sax, Kelly Brand piano, Katie Ernst, bass, Sarah Allen Drums.
At the Jazz Showcase, for the Chi-town Jazz Fest that was for Catholic Charities. John Moulder guitarist and priest started this fest a few years ago and we donate our time and the proceeds go to Catholic Charities. Always a worthy event.
What a great set for an enthusiastic audience of jazz lovers. We played my original tune Two Buck Chuck, however, the drinks at the Showcase were $10 bucks. 🙂
It is a shame that SHE only gets a chance a couple times a year to perform. Such a group of talented women!
Ladies let’s do this more often!
