Earma Thompson and I were friends for more than ten years. I learned a great deal from playing and talking with her throughout the years. I think the most important thing she taught me was “It don’t mean a thing if it ain’t got that swing!” Earma’s feel on the piano is becoming a lost art. We played so many duo gigs together and I never missed the bass and drums. She was the Queen of Jazz here in Chicago! We really had fun recording this with our friends Dennis Carroll and Mike Schlick. These guys really appreciated Earma’s feel and really helped out with this project. Dennis even whipped up a little blues head and named it for Earma.
